So, what is a linen tester?
Linen Testers are strong magnifiers with a measuring scale. Historically they were, and still are, used to check the quality of woven fabrics (hence the name). They are also used for an extensive range of professions.
In the print trade we use our linen testers to check the register (alignment) of the cyan, magenta, yellow and black plates that make up a four-colour image.
If the colours aren’t in register then you get a fuzzy effect which is best viewed through a pair of 3D specs!
We also use it to examine the dot structure of a print and the colour quality.
If you’d like to get a close up view of your printed items then just email me at andrew@synergy-print.co.uk and we’ll send you your very own professional standard linen tester.
